MONDAY. JEI.Y 18th. The monthly meeting ol the League was held at 7.45 o’clock. Present: Messrs AY. ,T. Jeffries (voted to the chain. A. G. Pi.lkingion. AY. E. Ilich::rds, I). .1. Eva-.n. J. AY. Morris and Dr. Teichelnmnn. Apology was made for the absence of Messrs Butler. Bruce. Alclnt sh and Duff. Tho minutes of the previous meotmj were confirmed and the outward eorrospondenee approved. The annual report of the Southland. Marlborough and Canterbury Leagues were received. The Public AA'orks Department reported the construction of the Rua-tapu-Mahinapua Road would ho further considered when the Estimates wore compiled. ’1 he Chairman explained that since the letter was written the position was changed, and thclo was now a prospect of the work being carried out shortly, the unemployed t i he engaged for the work. The Postal Department notified an extra mail service to AAaitaha on Mondays. providing the service was carried out without cost.—Received as so far satisfactory till the summer timetable came into force again. The Secretary reported writing to Captain Rollons regarding the charting of the Sounds, hut so far a reply was not to hand. The Secretary stated that wit-li Dr Teichelnmnn enquiry had been made regarding advertising costs for screen publicity in Wellington.- Received and referred to Messrs Mclntosh and Evans to take up with contributing bodies. J. Inkster, Groymouth, wrote suggesting cinema advertising for publicity purposes.—Received with thanks, -hut no action to he taken ai pr.-scni as funds did not permit. Dr Teiclielmann reported regarding annual conference at Christchurch when the League remits put bn a aid were carried. Received with thanks. The meeting concluded at 3.10 p.m.
