The members intend to confer and write a report during the voyage and so expedite work at Melbourne. Since Grayndler’s departure, criticism of the Mission’s itinerary regarding open shops ended, and tho public are advised to withhold judgment on Grayiuller’s comments until the other members return. Observers returned from Mexico on Monday after a fortnight’s absence. Maekay is writing a supplementary ro|X)i’t on industrial hygiene. Tho completed report relates solely to women and child labour.
N.Z. WOMAN’S CLAIM. NEW YORK, July 16
At Helena, in Montana State, the lawyer of Mrs Catherine O’Connor, ofWellington, New Zealand, is claiming a share to the millions in the estate of Senator William A. Clark, tho mining magnate. Mrs O’Connor declared that her father, Robert Clarke, was the [brother or the uncle of the deceased.
She is unlikely, however, to benefit, even if the relationship is proved, as the estate has been distributed by the will. --
SAPIRO WITHDRAWS LIBEL ACTION. NEW YORK, July 13.
A Chicago message states: Sapiro has announced that his million dollars libel suit against Henry Ford (cabled on March 1 Itli) lias now been settled. Sapiro said: “ Wc have agreed not to announce the terms of the settlement. However, as far as concerns the three points on which the suit was taken, namely, the Jewish issue, the co-opera-tive marketing issue, and the personal issue, 1 am convinced that a decent and manly retraction has been made, and I am satisfied.”
