CHINESE TROUBLE.
[Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.] A CHINESE RIOT. (Received this day at !).?0 a.m.) SHANGHAI, July 14. A minor riot occurred on the northern boundary of the international .settlement. A group of Cantonese soldiers tried to force an entry and when stopped by the police commenced abusing them. This attracted a crowd of hawkers and coolies a:id loafers wlio stoned the police and a majority of whom were wounded, hut not seriously. Reinforcements of police and members of Green Howards Battalion billeted near by, quelled the riot, returning the stone throwing with a baton charge and dispersing the mob.
