GOLFING.
N.Z. C' HA Ai PI UNSHIP. WELLINGTON, July 13. Although the place at which the 1928 New Zealand Golf Championship will be held will not be decided until the annual meeting of the New Zealand Golf Council is held at Hamilton on •September 7th. during the 1927 New Zealand Championship, it is generally understood among golfers that the honour will go to the Shirley links, Christchurch.
In view of the recent experiences in Australia in the K irk-Windeyer Cup. it seems Ihsely that the New Zealand Golf Conn-iI will consider the effecting • r' certain amendments governing the i .editions of the contest. One of the questions likely t,o h« di.setts.-ed is \tlie--1 her, instead of the New Zealand team having to play the winning Until of an elimination inter-State contest. it should not play the ibest team Australia can put in tlie field. It does not seem possible when their turn tomes to visit New Zealand, that a fully representative team from any particular State can make the trip, even though an elimination contest should he played for New Zealand. It does seem, possible. however, that a fully representative team made up from players from all the Australian States could be induced to make the trip. Another proposal likely to be considered is one to allow a halved match all matches, that is .to end at the eighteenth hole, even though the players finish all ■ square, and not ns in the ease of Dr K. Boss, to be continued until one or other of the players wins a hole and with it the match.
