HOKITIKA COLF CLUB. Following are the best cards returned for last Saturday’s medal match:—

The following players qualified for the Club Championship, the first round of which is set down for Saturday, the 23rd inst.:— C'hesney, Partridge, Steel, Neville, Houston, Mot tram, Cagney, Biggs and Best. The last two players tied and must arrange to play off before the 23rd inst. for eighth place.

ENGLISH OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP. (Australian Press Association & Sun. LONDON. July 12. For the open golf championship one hundred and eight players returning cards of 160 and under, qualified at St. Andrews. The first seven were:—Tolly 73-71 Charles AVhiteeombe. 71-74. Meihorn 73-73, Collins 71-76. Jones 76-71. Kirkwood 75-73, Tweddell 73-76. Jolly was ninth with 73-75, being bracketed with Ernest Whiteeom.be 72-78 and Braid 74-76. Boomer followed with 73-78. and then came Torrance with 77-75 and Barnes with 7974. Leu Nettleford with 83-75. was bracketed thirty-ninth with AY. H. Taylor. Of the others. George Gadd. Ray C'ompston and A\ T . L. Hartley return*" a total of 156 and Herd, Havers and Robson 158.
