DIVORCE AND MARRIAGES.

An analysis of figures from twentythree States indicates that divorce <is increasing in the United States. There is one divorce to every (i. 22 marriages in tho area surveyed during 1920, compared with one divorce to every 7.25 marriages in the preceding year. Numerous Paris divorces not included in the survey would considerably increase the divorce figures. Michigan’s new law requiring five dnvs notice before marriage license is issued is credited with causing a fourteen per cent decrease in marriages, wliilo tho new Nebraska law modifying tho marriage license requirements is credited with n nineteen per cent increase in marriages.
