A new star lias taken lier place iu the celluloid heavens, and threatens to outshine her more serious sisters. This star is Laura La i’lante. who has been gracing Universal Pictures with her presence for the past three years, and who now steps forth as a star all by herself in •• Her Hip; Night,” I'inverse I’.s delightful farce comedy which will he shown on Friday night at the Princess Theatre. .Melville Brown's direction of tile farce is an outstanding feature of the picture. Brown is a new director to the screen, and to his work he brings originality, a keen sense of

comedy and it fresh viewpoint which does not permit of hackneyed and banal repetition of the usual movie styi'e. The cast of " Her Big Night,” eontains more performers capable of making yon howl with laughter than you ever knew existed before. Lee .Moratt’x impersonation of a frenzied press agent; Tally .Marshall as tt cynical reporter in pursuit of a scandal story; Mack Swain as a movie producer worrying over his temperamental star; Znsu I’itts as tt mournful shop-girl, Cissy Fitzgerald as the jealous harridanish wife of a nouveau riche yachtsman arts some of the fun-makers who are apt to make you quiver with laughter during the showing of “ Her Big Night.” The author. Peggy Claddis, has a number of good motion picture comedies to her credit, hut it required the masterly touch of a Nfcl Brown and the art of an unbeatable east to transfer the delicious humour of this writer to the screen with aVI its original flavour, and with the added hilarity injected by a stall' of idea men who put into a human drama a number of original and tasty “ gags.” as they are known to the trade.
