Apologies were made for the absence of Messrs Spiers, Davidson, Keenan, Morel and Mehnrry. The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. MOTION OF SYMPATHY. The Treasurer reported receipts £■> lGs 6d, payments £‘7ll Is Gd, hank overdraft £985 19s Id.—Received. Mr Jeffries moved that- the Board desires to bring under the notice of the Prime Minister and the Minister of Health the urgent necessity for legislation being passed protecting ' hospitals of the Dominion against the continuance of the present unfair position regarding native patients, whose cost of maintenance cannot be enforced, notwithstanding that many of them are in receipt- of inc omes and rents that would permit of their pitying fees, the same as other white patients oared for in the hospital.—Seconded by Air Wells and carried. It was resolved to call for tenders for cartage. The next meeting was iixrvl for August loth. It was resolved to call a meeting of ladies on Monday night to arrange for the annual ball. The meeting closed at 9 p.m.
