All opposition meetings are forbidden through the country. Their election literature has been confiscated. The Racialist candidates in Transylvania have been imprisoned and large numbers of the Opposition voters have been cal fed up for miltiary training. thus nntking their voting impossible. Others have been refused voting papers on various pretexts. SERIOUS INDIAN DISTURBANCE.

A set ions disturbance broke out :n the Nadia District, east of llengal. when the Moslems attacked a Hindu village. Many were killed and injured during the withdrawal of the .Moslems. The Hindus retaliated, hunting the M oslems houses. A number were burned tn death ami since isolated cases of stabbing have occurred.
The situation is now well in hand, and peace is restored, hut a groat danger has spread as the I lindu-.Muslom antagonism is great, in view of the fact that the whole of India is celebrating Mohurrug, the greatest Moslem festival.
DUKE AND DUCHESS WELCOMED. (Received this day at 9.30 a.m.) LONDON. July S. A brilliant assemblage of Lords. Commoners, Bishops, civil 1 and military dignatries welcomed the Duke and i/tichess of York at Westminster Hall under the auspices of the Parliamentary Association.
When the Duke and Duchess, the latter wearing a delightful pink dress, pink hat and cloak, appeared at the head of the staircase they were greeted with it spontaneous outburst of cheering and hnndelapping. Hull Aniery presented many notables and dominion visitors to the Yorks, who afterwards descended into the hall and mingled with the guests and chatted at length with lion. Aniery, Hen. Digville and Mr Ramsay MacDonald. The Duchess enthusiastically greeted old friends.
