(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) Til E COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, July 7. The debate on the Addres-in-Reply was carried a stage further by Hons. Thomson and Reed, and the Council rose at 1.70 p.m. till 2.30 p.m. next day.

THE HOUSE. Mr Leo (Auckland East) gave notice of his intention to introduce the Compulsory Military Service Repeal Bill. The debate on the Address-in-lleply was continued by Messrs Armstrong. Forsyth, Howard Hon. Stewart, Hon. Ruddo and Mr Hudson. A division on the amendment moved by Mr Holland (Leader of .the Opposition) was then taken, the voting being tor tlie amendment 17. against tlu> amendment 50. Tbe Nationalists, Mi Vo itch (Liberal) and Mr Atmoro ( Independent) voted with the Government .

The debate was adjourned on the motion of Mr Harris and the House rose at 11.10 p.m. till 2.70 p.m. next day.
