A CENTENARIAN PASSES. LEVIN, July I he death occurred last night, of Airs Jane Bradley in her 101st. year. She was horn on loth. August. 1829 at Oruhelilie. (.'unity Sligo. Ireland, and came to New Zealand 71 years ago. She lived in Central Otago and Oamnru where she married 91 years ago. She settled at Levin in 1897, taking up one of the original (iovern.nient sections on which she resided till her death.

AUCKLAND TRAGEDY. A FAMILY PACT. AUCKLAND, July 9. It was thought last night that Ihe son fired the shots, hut from information secured by Supf. Wohlmann. it appears a.s the whole tragedy was presented. that it was in fact a family pact t i end what they thought was an unbearable state of affairs. A letter addressed to the police stated that owing to domestic, troubles the father (who wrote the letters) had decided to shoot his .son and daughter and then himself. Domestic trouble was 'mentioned in the letters, lint 111 view of details which Wohlinanii does not care to disclose at. present, there is very little doubt the tragedy was the result of a family pact, and the indications found bv the police support, this theory. The girls name is Laura, not Loriin.

C'-ollcn Kiddcll was resident in the district since 1921, working for Hugh Wills on his farm at Mata, a Tew miles from K!tlia.m. lie left in Alav to buy a sheep farm at Alangaweka and later was joined .by Air and Alt's Wills, who went to meet his parents on their arrival by the Remttera on June 20th. Collett stated he was devoted to his parents and sister, lie was of a nervous temperament and was a very steady worker, lie was engaged to a young lady. Ho played cricket in the local clith and was a member of (lie first junior football team. There are no other known relatives in New Zealand.

A meeting of representatives of the Reform Party committees from all parts of Rangitikei vestereve endorsed the action of .Mr W. S. Glenn in resigning bis position as junior Government Whip in order to obtain a greater freedom in the House. The following resolution was carried unanimously:—That, this meeting of delegates of various committees of RatlgiLikei electorate desires to place on record its appreciation of the ogod work done by Mr Glenn during the last, eight years amf lo assure him of their complete confidence in him, believing he will do’ his best in the interests of the electorate and party. Air Glenn staled he will .-till adhere to Reform principle’, and would not oppose the Government in a im-con-lidciue motion.
