A TEACHER'S APPEAL. AVELUNGTON. July I
An appeal by Aliss Tscheremissinoff against her dismissal from the teaching staff of the Wellington Girls’ College will to-morrow enter on the fourth day of its hearing. Evidence showed that the Wellington College Board of Governors could have terminated appellant's engagement in consequence of rodmtion in the number of pupils, but instead had chosen to dismiss her on the advice of the new principal, Mi's V. Greigt. on the grounds of unsatisfactory work, thus preventing her getting a position in any school ill New Zealand. Appellant has remarkable testimonials from Aliss M’Leait, the previous principal for many years, and under whom appellant taught for eight years and gave entire satisfaction. Appellant alleged jealousies in tlie college.

icseivid judgment ot Justin' Ostler was delivered this morning in a i use w herein the Inspector ol lactones appealed against the magistrate’s decision in not convicting Oroua County Council for failing to register a portable Slone crusher as a factory under the Act. "In my opinion the word place as used in the definition of a factory in section two implies the idea of pei'innnonoe and a perusal ol the context of tin l Aei convinces me it was not intended by the legislature to apply that word to each place on which is used a portable piece of machinery such as a threshing mill or stone crusher, which moved round the district ami which was not intended to he opera led in mu' place was only." said the Judge. The appeal wa . dismissed.

At an extraordinary meeting ol the shareholders of the Waiotahi Co-opera-tive Dairy Company. Ltd., held at Waiotahi a resolution was unaiiimousiV adopted that the Company go into voluntary liquidation; that Air I. If. Rein-son. secretary of the company, he appointed liquidator, and that a further meeting he called later to confirm the resolution. It is understood that the step has been found necessary owing to supplies of milk being diverted to other factories. The suggest ion is made that ill l ' factory should lie converted into a bacon factory. It is considered that there i' a sufficient number ol pigavailable in the Opotiki d'ilriet to warrant the step being taken.
