It is thought the sale was removed in a motor car belonging to Mr John Handley, which was removed from the street, not far from the garage. The oar was recovered, considerably damaged. At Alorningside this morning and this afternoon, two men were surprised trying to prise open a sale mi a vacant section at Three Kings. They lud handkerchiefs over their faces. When they discovered they were being watched, by men whose attention had been altrarled by the hammering, they dashed away.

Tile Chief Detective said he was of opinion that the case should go to the Supreme Court. Winton had been convicted before. Air White said the moused were 21 years ol age.
Tiie .Magistrate said that, considering tlie ago ol the accused, he would have had no hesitation in dealing with the case himself, hut he had to take into consideration the views c.l the police. It seemed almost an absurdity to send them to the Supreme Court.

A most distressing aieidelit oi curred just outside the Kensington School, this afternoon at about 3 o'clock, when a little girl. I.illa Jones, aged eight vears, was knocked down and killed. Mr Gardiner, of Green Island, was driving fils motor lorry southwards along Bridgman Street, when the girl ran out from behind Mr J.arraway s lorry,, which was standing by the fontpath. The wheel of Gardiners lorry went right over* the girl. .\,s the second lorry was standing right in front of the gate. Gardiner had a very obscured view. lhe 1 girl lived at ll Waurley Street. An inquest will he held.

A. charge ol stcaT-n.g electricity, valued at~£2 13s Id, the property of the Auckland Power Board, was preferred against Charles and Sydney Carpenter, in the Police Court. Chief Detective Cummings said tuat Sydney Carpenter, who was an electric linesman, had attacked a Hex to a water heating circuit, which was charged for one rate and did not register. The power stolen was used lor heating a room. The system had been operating for some time. A ba" containing between sixty and seventy” pounds, representing yesterday’s takings at the shop, was stolen from the motor van of D. Heslop and Company, butchers. Oneliunga, tins morning. The Heslop Bros, following their usual custom, had taken the cash home with them after closing of the shop, and had it with them in the motor van. which they drove to the abattoir, intending later to deposit it when the hank opened. AVhile both were absent from the motor van at the abattoir, the money was stolen.
