A meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Rugby Union was held to-night. The Maitawatu-Tlorowhcnua ! Union challenged AA'airarnpa for the I Ranfurly Shield on August 0 or 13.1 In the- event of Hawke’s Bay winning the Shield on July 9th, they asked that their match with Hawke's Bay on .Tilly 30th should be a Shield match. The Palmerston North Boys’ High School lodged a challenge to To Ante College for the M.oascar Clip. MAORI TOUR. The Government Tourist Departmen submitted a detailed itinerary of the Maori team’s tour of the Dominion /r.h i) -b was approved .1 A number of Unions asked for variations in dates, but it was decided * to reply that Ibe original dates would be adhered to. j The following is the Maori team for the New Zealand tour:—Backs: AY. CANADIAN TEAM'S VISIT. The British Columbia Rugby Union advised that the British Columbia University team, which won the Brit.sh Columbia Rugby Championship last year, are very keen to get an invitation to visit New Zealand next season. The matter was referred lo the Finance Committee to bring down a report to next meeting on the cost of such a tour.
