NEW GUINEA ESCAPEES. SYDNEY. June 30
Confirmation of the report has been received of the escape of a number of natives (awaiting trial on a charge of murder in New Guinea, cabled on Tuesday). They cleared out while In the charge of a native warder at Babanin gaol and so far have eluded capture in the bush.
NEW BUILDINGS. SYDNEY. June 30
The value of new building during the past year totalled £12.621.260, an increase of over £150,000 compared with tin* previous year, although of the total number built, ninety-nine per cent of the new buildings were dwelling houses.
