WELLINGTON, June 20. THE COUNCIL. In the Legislative Council to-day six councillors recently re-appointed, 'were sworn in. The Address-i 11-Reply was moved by Sir James Allen and seconded by Sir Mitehelson, after which the debate was adjourned until to-morrow. t THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.J0 p.m. The following Rills were introduced and read a first time: Wakatane County Council Empowering and Loan Moneys Diversion Bill (Mr Hockley). Preferential Voting Bill .(Mr McCombs) . Juries Amendment Bill (Mr ,T. Mason). Local Authorities Empowering (Relief of Employment) Extension Bill (Hon Downie Stewart). On the latter Bill urgency was claimed in order that it be put through all stages immediately. This was agreed to and the Bill was passed without amendment. Imprest Supply Bill No. 1 was introduced. Upon this Mr Holland (Leader of the Opposition) moved an amendment censuring the Government in
having failed to solve the unemployment problem. After a lengthy debate the amendment was defeated by 46 to 13 and the Bill was passed, authorising an expenditure of £2,960,660. The House rose at 1.55 a.in. till 2.30 p.m. on 'Wednesday.
