From West Coast Rugby Union asking for a junior representative match on July 9th and offering a return game at Hokitika on August 17th.—Received and resolved to grant the request, the return game to be played on the occasion of the Ashburton match at; Hokitika.

From W.C.K.U.. replying to request for ruling.—Received. It was resolved that the decision of the referee in the Ross-Excelsior A match he adhered to accordingly. From Licensed Victuallers’ Axsoeia tion forwarding cheque for erection of new goal posts.—Received with thanks.

From Parker Bros, offering donation of posts. —Received and accepted with thanks.

Pcferee Williamson forwarded report on Saturday’s match and also School FooLhaVl Commit tee’s report.— Received. It was resolved that the remaining Kanieri junior players he given pel mission to [ilav for Rimn Club provided personal application was made before Saturday. The President and Secretary were authorised to sign cheques for the Sub-Union.

School v. Rimu at Rimu at 1.00 p.m. RECENT ALTERATIONS. KNOCK-ON.—-Any knock-on, however slight, must be ruled a knock-on, even il the player catches it again before it touches the ground. TACKLE.—So long as there is a moment when the pi'a.ver in possession of the hall is held in such a way that lie cannot pass or play it, that player is tackled. Then the ball must he put down at once, and any played wishing to play it must play it with the foot first before it can be handled. The penalty for not so doing in both eases is a free kick. SCRUMMAGE. —The ball must now he hooked. If it is tapped out by the side where it was pul in or kicked straight out the other side, the player doing so must he penalised. The hall is not in the scrummage if it goes right through. Before it can he hooked it must he [nisi both feet of a frontranker of both teams, he on the ground and he mid-way between both sets of hookers.

The referee has the power to order the ball to he put in from whatever side he chooses.

X'o player must, after the scrummage has been formed, wilfully add himself to the front rank so as to form more than three in that row until the hall lias been pitt in.

No player, must lip speech or otherwise. indicate as to how or when the hall is being put. TIAIE.—In International matches spells are to he of forty minutes’ duration.

Unions are not (>inpowered to appoint timekeepers. Time or half-time limy now he called: (a) When the hall goes into touch or touch in-goal. (b) After a tackle. (<•) After a touch down, or after a kick at goal after a try. -d) After the whistle lias been blown for an infringement of the rules. The circular letter to Unions, dated Alay 2nd. 1927. is now withdrawn, a reply having been received to our cable to London, which reads: (1) A player who is lying on the ground reaches out and gets possession of the ball. Does Law 20 prevent him immediately passing or kicking the hall without getting up? " (2) A player on both knnes is in possession of the ball. ADVANTAGE RULE.—The Advantage Rules does not apply : (a't At a kick-off or drop-out. KICKING A GOAL—When a player is kicking at goal from a mark or try, he must not handle the ball when it is on the ground, nor must he touch it again after it lias been placed on the ground. If he does so. the kick is forfeited.

In the case of penalty-kicks. “ passive ” is now defined as standing with his hands by his side and not attempting to put the kicker off his Lieu.. TOUCH-LINE FLAGS.—The touchline flags are no longer considered part of the post, and the player is not put into touch by touching the flag only.
