THE AFTERMATH. DAUDET TO BE RE-ARRESTED. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) • PARIS, June 27. The correspondent of “Petit Parisian ” states Cabinet have ordered the re-arrest of Daudet. PARIS, June 26. A widespread search has - failed to locate M. Daudet.
Meanwhile France’s big laugh has turned to amazement ait the success of the hoax. This has caused more trouble in Government circles than any other recant happening. Officialdom is now wondering as to what extent- the Royalist and Communist propaganda has infiltrated the Administration and drastic enquiry is being held.
The most unhappy person is the Gaol Administrator, who lias been suspended within only four months of his retirement on pension. <• The new Prefect of Police lias also been stripped of the laurels which he won only a fortnight ago by his dramatic arrest of M. Daudet. PARIS. June 2G. M. Catry lias beoii dismissed from his position as gaol governor, following the release of M. Daudet.
