“GIMLET JIMMY.”
LONDON. May 7. In view of the renewed activities ol a burglar who Ims become known as VGimlet Jimmy” people who have charge of the keys of lock-up premises in Lancashire towns are taking every possible precaution for the protection of property. “Gimlet Jimmy” uses a gimlet to force the catches of windows. He visits the homes of those who have the keys of lock-up shops, and-having stolen the keys uses them to enter the shop. Ho is said to be so light-fingered as to be able to abstract,a bunch of keys from beneath the pillow of their sleeping custodian without disturbing him. Manchester, Salford, Bolton and igan have all been visited by “Gimlet Jimmy.” His latest coup was carried out a few days ago in Chorlton-eum-Hnrdy. Manchester. His methods involve the shadowing of his victim to his home, and often a long journey in the small hours of the morning from a house where he has stolen keys to a shop to which the keys give access.
