Ihe Now Zealanders began a match against Scotland at Glasgow to-day, but unfortunately for the day’s match rain delayed the start and the wicket was ..soft. Kerr, one of Scotland’s foremost bats was run out cheaply, hut Stevenson and Groves added 63 for the second wicket in 35 minutes. The former played a good innings of 59 and most of the rest met with some success, but on the whole the batting was dull. At lunch the score was 2 for 100. Then five more wicket fell for another 100 and the total only reached 233. 3'lic home side were helped by bad fielding, for the New Zealanders had another relapse, and missed several easy chances. On the oilier hand. Page howled on splendidly and came out with mi excellent analysis. Merritt was very expensive and evidently the wicket did not suit him. On going in for Now Zealand, Bernnu and Olliver began briskly and put on 50, Both were then caught off Forrester, but James ami Dempster were still’ together when stumps were drawn with the total 2 for 90.
