AN ARREST, BLENHEIM. •Tune 23. When the Taniahine was sailing for Wellington this afternoon from I'icton. the police arrested a passenget charged with committing a burglary at Girling* Ltd. last night. 11l addiuion to money already reported stolen. missing articles were a lady s tur, a man’s shirt, lie, handkerchief and watch belonging to the manager.
DAIRY CONFERENCE. ROTORUA. Jtine 28. At the Dairy Conference this morning Air AY. Grounds addressed the conference in defence ot the Control Hoard's policy. The speaker on rising received a great ovation all sections joining. The speech was a repetition of the past policy and modifications, extensively fortified by statistics. A remarkable personal tribute was given at the close, all rising, and singing “'lie's A Jolly Good Fellow.'’

SUCCUMBED TO INJURIES
TIMARU, June 22
Edwin rieovov, aged sixteen, died in the Tinmru Public Hospital last night. Ho was admitted several weeks ago as the result ot injuries suffered iitl an accident.
FELL" DOWN HOLD. TIMARU, June 22
John Kenny, a seaman, fell down the hold of the s.s. Calm while the vessel was loading at Timaru port this afternoon and suffered abrasions which necessitated his removal to the public hospital.
CONVICTION (.WASHED. PALMERSTON N-, June 22
Andrew John Marlatid, drover, ol Pohaugina, succeeded at the Supreme Court to-day in liis appeal against a conviction recorded against him in the Magistrate's Court at Eeilding on AI arch 2. when he was found guilty ot converting a motor ear to his own use. The Magistrate had imposed a sentence of two months’ imprisonment
without the option of a fine. Additional evidence was brought forward to-day for the defence, Mr Justice Ostler remarking that, had the Magistrate heard this additional evidence he in all probability would not have entered a. conviction. There was a strong chain of circumstances pointing to accused's guilt, yet several loopholes were evident, consequently Ilarland should he given the benefit of the doubt.
RECKLESS DRIVING ALLEGED WELLINGTON. June 22.
William Joint Wailing, of Eastbourne. carrier, was to-day committed to the Supreme Court for trial on a charge of feckless driving, L-iereby causing the death of Alt's Helen Teller. According to the evidence in tbe Magistrate's Court. Walling, who was returning to Wellington irom the Otaki races on June 8 in a sedan < nr. struck a car driven by Alexander Coleman and containing passengers, including Mrs Teller, when endearcuring to p:iss it- on a vorv narrow portion of the Tawn Flat Rond. Coleman's car pluunged down a 8711 g'dly. turning over lour times in the process. Airs Teller was killed. Accused did not stop, lint a: celt-rated. and was chased by a, car which obtained the number of his ear.
Accused .pleaded not guilty. Had was allowed. The inquest on ?Jrs Teller alsi was hold, the ("o’-mu-. Mr F.
