tote curiosities. SYDNEY, June 22. i Till.- totnlisntor at Gosford races operating on recently introduced regulations cabled on 13th May, shotted some queer results. In one race, although the bookmakers quotation for the winning horse was 4 to 1, totalisator investors only received their money back, so although thet backed the winner they did not win. Ihe oldv ones who benefited were those who backed the favourite which ran third. In the ordinary case they would have received less than they invested, but under the new rules they had to receive their money hack, although 344 tickets were issued. 286 being on the placed horses. In another race the lirst instance occurred of the totalisator not holding sufficient money to return to each hacker the amount of his original investment. 528 tickets equalling £132 sterling being issued and when the regulation 12 V per cent- had been deducted £lls 10s remained for division. whereas £ll6 was requited.
