EVERYBODYS’ PICTURES

'■THE HAPPY ENDING” TO-XIGIIT,

At a time wlien British productions are. so few as to Ijc almost negligible it is refreshing anil gratifying to see a picture like “ The Happy Ending.” a Master Picture to he shown at the Princess Theatre to-night. 11 The Happy Ending ” is, in short, a picture drama as near to perfection as one conld hope to sec. The story was written by [an Hay. produced by George A .Cooper and features Jack Buchanan and Pay Compton. If Jack Buchanan were an American, wc should have wonderful' stories of the advent of a new film star. We should be told that lie has signed a, contract for a thousand dollars a week (or is it a day?) that he kept himself fit by gymnastic exercises before breakfast and owns no less than six motor cars. As it is. bo is a well known English comedian and dancer and in “ The Happy Ending ”be surpasses himself. For m sublety and reality of acting and in the ease with which bo has made bis little bits of comedy effective, this British actor is quite the equal ot Adolphe Menjnu, and lie lias moreover, great [lower of expressing deeper feeling than comedy demands. Eav Compton as the mother, Eric Lewis as her uncle. Jack Hobbs as the son. and Joan Barry as the youngest- daughter, arc as good as they well' could Tie.

A good supporting series will also bt shown, including Topical. Scenic am oomedv.

On Friday a big special will be prefilled: A rollicking, thrilling motion icture version of Charles Hoyt's play. A Trip to Chinatown,” with Margaret .ivingstnn as the Widow.
