EVERYBODYS’ PICTURES

THE SPORTING LOVER” —TO-NIGHT.

Conway Tea lie, that most popular of screen lovers, scores a most palpable personal triumph in “The Sporting Lover,” which screens for the. iirst time, at the Princess Theatre to-night. Tearle is a most gratifying actor at all times, and in “ The Sporting Lover” he goes beyond himself. Barbara Bedlord, who plays opposite him. shows stellar finalities in her delineation of a most difficult role. Biss Bedford has been appearing to hotter advantage in every new picture that she makes. We predict that she will be elevated to stardom within a very short period. Tearle is seen in the role of Captain Terance Connaughton, an Irish officer home from the front to check up on the castle and the many mortgages he has inherited from his ancestors. When he returns to the trenches he is wounded after a number of other occurrences and taken to a field hospital, where he meets Lady Gwendolyn Cavons. A romance develops, but is suddenly halted when an air raid demolishes the hospital and separates the lovers. Alter the war they are brought together again, with an army officer who lias defrauded Connaughton, having succeeded Connaughton in the lady's affections. Then the story really starts. What happens after that is too good to divulge in advance, hence our advice to those who appreciate thorough entertainment to see “The Sporting Lover” for themselves. “ The Sporting Lover ” is an extraordinarily fast moving melodrama. It whizzes right along and leaves one with a feeling of having been well entertained. Alan Halo directed “The Sporting Lover.” Tt is a First National picture. A topical, scenic, and comedy will also he shown to-night. On Wednesday: Mary Philbin in “ The Fool’s Highway.” On Thursday: “The Happy Ending.”
