E VER YBGDYS’ PJGTURES

PETER B. KYNE’S GREAT NEW

NOVEL TO-NIGHT.

Every once in n while there suddenly appears on the film horizon a motion picture that offers something new in the way of story and theme. Originality in photoplays-—especially westerns —is mighty rare, and The Enchanted Hill,” the new outdoor melodrama a.t the Princess Theatre, deserves to he singled out for special and honourable mention. The principal characters in this modern tale are Lee Purdy, a gay and gallant ex-army aviator, who huvs and settles down on a ranch in New Mexico, and Gail Ormshv. who inherits the adjoining ranch from her uncle. Here is the beginning of a (irst-rate love story that takes an unexpected turn when the girl, for some mysterious reason, evinces a strong dislike for her neighbour. Further complications set in, when a hand of invaders attempts to kill Purdy so as to get hold of his ranch, on which, unknown to him, there is buried treasure. From that point the action is fast and furious. The subsequent events are charged with excitement and thrills, for Purdy uses airplanes and machine guns to light his enemies to the hitter finish. •Jack Tlolt gives a vigorous account of himself in the leading male/ role; Florence Vidor makes a charming heroine; Noah Derry is, as usual, a very effective “ had man ” ; and Mary Rrian wins new laurels in a lovable

cha raeterisation. A topical, scenic and comedy will also he shown to-night. On Tuesday, Conway Tearle and Barbara Bedford in “The Sporting Enver.”
