President Cosgrave is taking up the attitude that those who were in opposition in the last Dail Eircann, meaning the Labour Party and the other groups are now in the majority, while * his own party is in a minority. Mr Cosgrave added: “As the President is elected by the majority of the Bail, my forming a Government would be a usurpation of the rights of the House.’’ • LONDON, June 17. The Times states that 88 candidates in the Irish Free State Elections forfeited their deposits of £IOO each, failing to secure the quota of votes necessarv to secure election.
„ DE VALERA AND OATH. LONDON, June 1(5. “ Dail deputies will never take the oath of allegiance” asserts Do Valera. “We give allegiance to the Irish nation and people only. Our people will insist upon a speedy abolition of the degrading penal oath, defranchising one third of the electorate.”
