PRESBYTERIAN MISSIONARY CAMPAIGN.

In connection with the missionary campaign which is being carried on throughout the churches of New Zealand. the Westland Presbytery has lecently been visited and very successful gatherings have been held. The Rev. A. L. .Miller, M.A.. of Canton, preached at Greymouth last Sunday morning and addressed a large meeting of voting people in the afternoon. He then came on to Hokitika and gave a most interesting and informing address at the evening service on the situation in China. 1 (trough the courtesy of the Hall Committee ill Kokatahi Mr Miller was able to give his lecture on China there on Monday night to a large and appreciative audience. On Tuesday night the lecture was given in St. Andrew s Church. Hokitika, and another large attendance showed their keen appreciation of the entertainment. Mr James Park, Junr. was thanked for the use of a very fine lantern and the congregation adjourned to St. Andrew s Hall foi “supper provided by the ladies. On Thursday night a conference and public meeting were held at Greymouth. Tea was provided by the ladies of the Greymouth Church and the Rev. 1> M. Rybuin spoke on the business side or the campaign, pointing out that about £40,000 a year was required to meet the church budget. Foreign Mission took £20.000 and Horne and Maori Mission-. Youth of the ( liureh. aud other schemes £20.000 and this amount was proportioned a- fairly as possible to the churches. After discussion a public meeting was bold in the church, presided over by Rev. .1. W. Hayward, and addresses were delivered by Mr Brabvn ('Home Missions). Rev. A. L. Miller (Canton', and Rev. IL M. Rytnirn (Youth of the Church). Meetings have also been addressed at Blackball. Kuninra and Reefton and tbe churches have been stimulated to incron seel activities.
