In the Commons, Sir Locker Lampson informed questioners that Surwat Pnslva has sent a further note to Lord George, satisfactorily explaining the Egyptian Government’s intentions, and disposing of the cause of the recent tension. Britain had no objection to the publication of the notes exchanged, and was awaiting Egypt’s consent. The papers would he tabled at the earlist opportunity, and the warships withdrawn.

Government were fully and constantly considering the advisablcness of removing the British Legation from Peking to the Coast, but it had no present intention of withdrawing.
