A YE BY ATTRACTIVE PRESENTATION.

The performance ot the comedy “ Mnriette,” by Greymouth amateurs in the Princess Theatre last night m aid of the finals of the Grey ambulance. attracted a very good attendance. upstairs especially being well filled. The company presented a very pleasing entertainment. The comedy is a well written one and there was much humour and a considerable amount of realism woven into the plot, which is set round operations in the hack lines on the war front.

The characters were excellently filled and the presentation of the principals was very satisfying. .Miss M. Mamies (Patricia Keene), Air N. Jones (Capt. Bruce Hardy), Airs E. J. Kiely (Miss Emmeline Hardy and Lieut. Evans). Mr Graeme Holder, the author, (Hen Frazer), Mr Erie Conway (Jeeves), Mr D. M. Robertson (Capt. Harold Dupont), Miss M. Parfitt (Marictte) had the most difficult parts and made an excellent showing, the smaller parts being also well lilled. The dressing and mounting was a special feature and the bombing effects were excellently carried out. An introduced -dance by little Miss Ella Robertson was a very pleasing item that was heartify encored. Throughout the efforts of the performers met with the warm approval of the appreciative audience and there wore many rounds of applause as the play progressed. ’I lie orchestra added considerably to the enjoyment ol patrons, the incidental music being of a very pleasing nature and the accompaniments well executed. Before the curtain was lowered in llio final act Mr L. McGlaslmn returned thanks for the excellent attendance and hearing given, stating tnc object in view, the Grey Ambulance Fund, would benefit .substantially as a resultof the performance. He conveyed thanks to all who had assisted, specially referred to Mr and Mrs ,T. J. Mclntosh, to whom they were greatly indebted for much assistance. The National Anthem was then played, concluding a very attractive performance.
