“JINGLE BELLS!—” Father Christmas, with sleigh and reindeer replete, will descend upon Auckland during Christmas of this year to gladden the hearts oi young folk. The novelty of reindeer parading the busy streets of the city will be brought about in all probability as the result of an advertising scheme by John Court, Ltd.. The firm’s intentions were communicated to last week’s meeting of the Auckland City Council, when it requested permission to exhibit and parade- a pair of reindeer through the main thoroughfares for about a. week in December just prior to YuJetide. It proposes that the animals be presented to the Auckland Zoo. and that the company should have the option to use them at Christmas for the next three years. The council granted permission tor the reindeer to he used during one week in December, 1927, only, on condition that they then be presented to the Zoo.
