THE IRISH ELECTIONS.

TREATY ENDORSED,

A LONDON ESTIMATE

BY TEI.EGRArn —PRESS ASSN., COPYRIGHT,

LONDON. June 14

The “Times” Dublin correspondent states: Although the returns are Incomplete. it is clear that the Irish Free State elections 'nave resulted in a victory for the supporters of the AngloIrish Treaty. The polling was unexpectedly heavy in nearly every constituency. The constitutional elements won, despite the Republicans’ admittedly superior organisation and large campaigning funds, which Mr De V alera recently obtained in America. President Cosgrave declared before the election that he would not remain in office unless he won at least fifty seats. This is now most doubtful, but the declarations will not prevent a big alliance with some of the smaller Constitutional groups. This seems the most probable result of an election which reaffirms tlie determination of a majority of the people in the Free State to support the Constitution.

LATEST RETURNS. LONDON, June 14. The latest Free State elections results are : Government 39 De Yaleraites 38 Labour - ••• 22 Independents 10 Farmers’ Party 3 National League ? Sinn Fein 4 There are still twenty-four seats outstanding.
