HOKITIKA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
SPECIAL MEETING
WEDNESDAY,- JUNE 15
The Council sat at noon : —Present: His Worship the Mayor (G. A. Perry Esq), Dr Teichehnann, Messrs W. Jeffries. A. E. Eleock, T. W. Duff, D. J. Evans, A. C. Armstrong, E. W. Heenan, J. King and G. Heinz. The Chairman stated the business was to deal with applications for the position of temporary Town Clerk during the illness of Mr A. A. Andrewes. The following applications were received: Messrs R. Powjie (Nelson), H. G. F. Coles, F. S. Orr. G. Heppell, A. G. Pilkington, 0. Borton. It was resolved to reduce the names l y hal--to 3,2 and ]. The ballots resulted : First ballot: Coles 10, Orr 9. Pilkington 6, Powrie 4, Heppell 1. Second ballot: Coles 9, Orr 7, Pilkington 4. Final ballot: Coles 6. Orr 4. Mr Coles was appointed by resolution and the Mayor and Treasurer (Mr Jeffries) authorised to instal Mi- Coles to his duties as soon as convenient. The meeting then adjourned.
