Tenders are being invited for the supply of 200 loads of sand for the Hokitika School Committee.
Members of the Hibernian Society are notified to attend the funeral of Sister Mary Joseph to-morrow, meeting at 2 p.m. Speaking atr a meeting of the Board of Health. Dr Watt. Deputy InspectorGeneral of Health, stated tho investigations as to the weight and height of New Zealand children had been carried out by school officers of the Health Department. The results showed that New Zealand school children, between the ages of ten and fifteen, exceeded in height and weight those of Australia, Great Britain, the United States and Toronto, according, to the latest statistics. New Zealand t:i"'n children had definitely improved in height and weight during the years 1913 to 1925. Children of farmers were tho tallest and heaviest. Children of professional men were almost as tall, but showed no excess in weight over the average. The height and weight of children with good mental attainment was greater I ban those of children with inferior ability.
