The latest news of Hessian methods to maintain Bolshevik authority is as appalling as news usually is from that quarter, where extreme action is resorted to so readily always. There is a sharp contrast between British and Russian methods in these matters, and a study in the ways of 'humanity is afforded. Britain sent- the Russian plotters homo unharmed, and some of them were even entertained in the House of Commons! In Russia there has been very short shift. The wholesale action of Russia will indeed create a world sensation. It will be interesting to know what form of trial was given the accused, and "hat opportunity was afforded for offering a defence. The occasion seems to tie another occasion for blind fury by the Soviet authorities. Under the pretext of the act of the British Government, carried out in quite a constitutional and humane way, the Russian authorities are taking this extreme action. It would appear at once that here Ls evidence of Russia’s guilt in the matters complained of by Britain, and that the twenty or more executions are to remove material evidence. Russia surely had enough blood on its hands without this shocking instance, and the world will await some real evidence of justification for so great a national crime.
