BEX BEACH STORY TO-NIGHT

In tlie Metro-Goldwyn-Maycr .screen version of the famous Rex Reach novel. “The Auction Block.’’ to be shown tonight at tlie Princess Theatre, three talented and higlily-populur players appear. These are Eleanoi Boardman. Charles Ray. and Sally O'Neil, and the supporting cast is one ol distinctive worth. .Miss Boardman is cast as a

country girl who won a beauty contest, and is feted hv a whole city. After a whirlwind courtship she marries the indolent son ol a wealthy man, only to leave him on their wedding night feeling that she has made a tragic mistake. Charles Ray’s delightful acting is hut one bright feature of the film. He is ideally cast as a likeable young waster, who is reformed by the good influence ol his wife. The captivating drollery of his portrayal, combined with his marked ability to interpret the dramatic theme underlying the story, makes his performance the finest of his brilliant career. The second appearance in Australia and New Zealand of Sally O’Neil, the vivacious little star recently discovered by Marshal Neilan, and featured so successfully in his production “ .Mike,” confirms the excellent opinion then formed of her. She is destined to become one of the most popular players of the screen. She introduces a new type' to film fans, at once afire with youth, magnetic, daring and wholly acceptable. Romance and humour are skilfully blended in this production. which has the inimitable touch that makes Rex Reach's novels so popular. Based upon a wholesome theme, and directed under the powerful supervision of Hobart Henley, this new Metro-Goldwyn-Maycr photoplay will appeal to a wide circle.
