ADDINGTON STOCK SALES. CHRISTCHURCH, June 9. In most departments the entries of sfcwck were on the small side at the metropolitan weekly market at Addington yesterday. There was a. much smaller yarding of fat cattle, and the result was a brighter sale, with prices lor all decently finished beef up to 2fts a. head hotter than last neck. There was a marked improvement in the price of fat slice]), ranging from 2s to 3s a head on lute rates. The entry of fat sheep was short and the competition from butchers wits very keen. Fat

'The sale of fat pigs was sluggish, especially for porkers, which were in over supply, but store pigs sold as well as last week. Fat Cattle—There was a good deal of irregularity in the market, but generally the improvement in prices averaged from 15s to 20s a bead. Prices a 10011) were: Primest beefs to 375, heavy weight steer beef 29s to 335, prime medium weight steer 32s Od to 355, good quality cow 27s to 30s, medium eon; and rough steer 21s Oil to 20s 6d, and rough cow beef 18s to 225. Values were:—Extra prime heavy steers £l6 10s to £l9 2s 6d; prime heavy steers £l4 Ifts to £l6 5s ; prime medium weight steers £l2 10s to £l4 15s; medium quality steers £7 15s to £ll 10s; rough steers £6 15s to £7 10s; extra prime heifers to £ll 7s Gd ; prime heifers £8 5s to £lO 10s; ordinary heifers £6 10s to £8 ; light heifers £4 5s to £6 ss; extra prime cows to £lO 17s 6d; prime cows £7 5s to £9 ss; ordinary cows £4 10s to £6 10s; aged cows £3 5s to £4. Store Cattle—There was a fair-sized entry of store cattle, consisting mainly of cows, with one or two lines of steers, two-year-old steers £5 7s; good cows £3 to £•! ; medium cows 35s to £2 15s; inferior rows 2fts to 30s.
Dairy Cattle—Best second, third and fourth culvers £8 10s to £ll ss; medium sorts £6 ]os to £8: inferior sorts £4 to £6; 'best heifers, £6 10s to £9; others £3 to CO ss; old cows £1 10s to £2 10s.
Vealers—Everything offered sold at equal to last week. Values were: Twelve to eightcen-onths-old sorts to £7; good vealers £4 to £4 15s; medium vealers £2 to £3 15s; small calves 8s to 30s.
Fat Sheep—'The sale throughout was a very brisk one, and a further advance in prices was recorded, averaging 2s 0d to 3s a head in the case of ewes and 2s a head in the ease ol wethers. There was some irregularity in the market. Values were: Extra prime wethers 36s to 42s 4(1; prime wethers 32s to 34s Oil; medium wethers 29s Gd to 31s 9d ; light wethers 21s to 28s Od; extra prime ewes 30s to 36s 7d; prime owes 26s to 29s Od; medium owes 22s to 25s fid ; light ewes 18s to 21s; aged owes 13s fill to 17s. Fat Lambs— I The fat lamb entry indicated that the season is nearing the end. The entry was small, comprising 1200 head and the quality was very indifferent. Values were: Extra prime lambs In 30s lftd ; prime lambs 27s to 29s fid; medium lambs 14s to 20s 9d ; light lambs 20s to 23s Oil ; store lambs 16s 10(1 to 19s fid. Pips There was a large entry of fat pigs, including a. fairly big consignment. of West Coast porkers. Most of the pigs from the Cofist were in an unfinished condition. They caused a sluggish market and prices generally were irregular. Values were: Choppers 63 10s to C 7 15s; light baconcrs jj3 7s to £3 15s; heavy haveners £1 to I'l 7s; extra heavy baconcrs to £4 las- average price per 11) 5Jd to did: light porkers Ifts to 475; heavy porkms sfts to 60s; average price per lb id to Bd. . . The vimling of store pigs, especially wound's, was smaller than last week. ..ml prices were on a par with hue rates. A feature of the sale was a |j„ w of maiden sows from Hinds. Valors were: Verniers 10s to 18s; slips ]9s to 21s; medium stores 25s to 32s ; large stores 33s to 38s; extra large stores to 455; sows in pig £5 to £7.
