WEST COAST FARMERS
VISIT TO CANTERBURY. AA'est Coast farmers will visit Canterbury by special train, arriving at Ashburton on June 27tli. The excursion is one of the series arranged lithe Railway Department with the object of affording farmers cheap facilities for seeing other parts of the country. On June 28th. the visitors will be given a Mayoral reception at As burton, and at 9.30 a.m. they will he conveyed by motor cars to Air J. 11. Grigg’s model farm and station at Longbeacli. They will return to Ashburton for lunch, and at 1.30 p.m. they will visit Air J. AA'. Ruddenklau’s
‘'■Springfield” property, where they " ill see ploughing operations and chaff-cut-ting. They will then go on to Methven, where they will return to Ashburton for dinner in the evening. On the day following they will visit the metropolitan sale at Addington, they will arrive there in the morning, and at 2 p.m. they will visit various manufacturing concerns of interest to farmers. This visit will be in the hands of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association.
On the morning of June 30tli. they will visit the Canterbury Agricultural College at Lincoln, where they will have lunch. Later they will visit the works of Kcmpthome, Prosser and Co. Ltd. They will have afternoon tea there.
On July Ist they will leave for the West Coast. Possibly some function will he arranged on one of the evenings they will be in Christchurch. Between August 11th. and 20th.. Marlborough farmers are likely to visit Canterbury, but the scheme, which is being handled by Mr F. Pawson. Pailway Business Agent, is yet in the preliminary stages.
