ELECTRICITY SUPPLY
METTING AT KOKATAHI
Last evening a meeting held at the lvokatahi Hall for the purpose of explaining the proposed supply of electric power to the district was well attended by local residents, Koiterangi not being well represented on account of the weather conditions.
Messrs Morel and Whiley, members of the Power Board, were present and explained the negotiations which had taken place between the Board and the company and further explained the freedom of the ratepayers from financial responsibility, as a result of the arrangements which had been made.
The Company’s Consulting Engineer confined his remarks to matters concerning country consumers and explained the basis upon which the charges for electricity were framed, pointing out that the more use a consumer made of his service the lower the average price per unit of electricity became.
Several of those present intimated their intention of adopting a complete installation of cooking, water heating, light and power, which was stated by Mr’Langford to cost approximately £SO per annum for its operation on the average estate, with consequently lower cost for smaller establishments and installations,
