RUSTLERS’ RANCH TO-NIGHT
Vi hat happened and how it happened is the essence of “ Rustlers Ranch,” the Blue Streak Western which is coming to the Princess Theatre to-night, with Art .Word in the starring idle. The picture was directed hv C liff Smith. The supporting east included Olive Hashrouck, Duke R. Lee, George Chcdhro, Edith Yorke. .Matty Kemp. Albert Prison. Stanton Heck, Lilian Worth and Red Bassett. Save for the timely arrival of Lee (Irtish, a wandering cowboy, .Mrs Alary Shawn, a widow, might have lost every possession she had. Her daughter was about to he married to a worthless youth from the nearby town. The young man was a gambler and had lost a great deal of money to Ephraim JJaggs, the local banker, whose right-hand man has discovered a vein of gold in Mrs Shawn’s abandoned mine. When Crush scouted some of the things in the wind he decided to stay—especially since the pretty Lois Shawn had smiled at him after he rescued her from a fast-flow-ing stream. The supports include a topical and a comedy.
On Friday Gene Stratton-Porter’s greatest novel, “ A Girl of the Limherlost,” will he shown, and on Saturday night Rex Beach’s famous story, "The Auction Block.”
“AIARIETTE.” After an unavoidable postponement, consorjnont upon the Public Service Hull being announced for the same date us that; originally arranged for staging “Mariettc,” this wonderful comedy is to lie produced definitely for one night only on Wednesday next, the Toth, at the Princess Theatre.
Glowing reports appear in (lie Greymonth papers about this wonderful show and it looks as if we are in for a rare treat. The producers (HolderConwny Productions) are professionals of many years experience and the company has evidently been chosen with very great care. Every little detail and fine point in stagecraft has been brought out and “Mariettc” must stand to-day .as one of the cleverest amateur efforts staged in New Zealand, and would even compare more than favourably with many of the professional touring companies. The advantage of not only having the professional producers “on the job” but also having the author playing a principal part must be appreciated. The Company is a strong one of 40 members. 'Magnificent scenery and wardrobe arc carried, and the show is mounted on a very lavish scale. - Patrons are strongly advised to reserve their seats at McTntosh’s. Prices are os, 3s and 2s, plus tax. Remember this is the show of shows !
