BRITISH LEGION. LONDON, June 5. General Haig addressing the. annual conference of the British Legion attended by delegates from the whole Empire, emphasised that members must endeavour to plant their ideals of comradeship service in the industrial world, thereby killing the mutual distruht. Last year’s strikes had severely tested the Legion’s strength and existence, but it emerged with its good name enhanced. The impartiality of the Legion’s support of law and order undoubtedly saved Britain from the bloodshed of an attempted revolution. Haig referred to the experiment under which twenty members were trained in agriculture while the Legion maintained their families and trained their wives.
