The shock was felt in Cracow where many houses collapsed, resulting in a panic. A number ot people were injured by falling debris.
BRITISH LEGION. LONDON, June 5. General Haig addressing the. annual conference of the British Legion attended by delegates from the whole Empire, emphasised that members must endeavour to plant their ideals of comradeship service in the industrial world, thereby killing the mutual distruht. Last year’s strikes had severely tested the Legion’s strength and existence, but it emerged with its good name enhanced. The impartiality of the Legion’s support of law and order undoubtedly saved Britain from the bloodshed of an attempted revolution. Haig referred to the experiment under which twenty members were trained in agriculture while the Legion maintained their families and trained their wives. This resulted m one hundred migrating to Canada. If successful, the effort will be renewed on a. larger scale. JEROME K. JEROME ILL. LONDON, June 2. Jerome K. LEA GEE LABOUR- CONFERENCE GENEVA, June 2.
Mr Zuzuki. representing Japan at the Workers’ International Labour Conference, outlined the Asiatic economic situation.
He denounced the Communist movement as poisoning the spirit of the workers and undermining the foundations of the trade union movement. He suggested a meeting of the conference In the Far East to combat Communism.
