ADOINCTON STOCK SALES. CHRISTCHURCH, June 2. There was another heavy entry of fat cattle at the metropolitan weekly market at Addington yesterday, hut the raidings of fat sheep and fat lambs were shorter than lias been the case for some time. Over 000 head of fat cattle were yarded, and the entry was a good deal in excess of requirements. The result- was that prices generally were lower than last week. Extra prime cattle sold at about late rates, but other classes were cheaper than last week by £1 a head on the average. Fat sheep met with an excellent demand throughout. The sale opened with prices showing an improvement on late rates, and tlie. tendency was for a further improvement as the market progressed. From the point of view of vendors it. was the best sale of fat sheep held at Addington for some time. Fat lambs also met with a keen demand, and .all decently-finished soils were Is a head better than at the previous sale. In the store sheet) section the yarding was smaller than has been the case at recent sales, and here, too, a general improvement in prices was recorded. There was a large entry of store cattle, but the demand was not very active. Competition for dairy cattle also lacked brightness, hut in a large measure this was due to the indifferent quality of the hulk of the yarding. Vcnlers fit for killing sold well, but ii-s usual, inferior sorts wore hard to quit. Fat pigs sold at about iiite rates, and store pigs met with free competition.
