There was beautiful weather for the holiday yesterday. The main local attractions were the seven-a-side tournament on Cass Square and the golf match against Greymputh visitors.
In our issue of Thursday last a paragraph dealing with the Hartley and Biloy Consolidated Gold Dredging Coy. Ltd. made it appear that the minimum subscription was -100 shares or £2O per month. This should have read—tOO shares of £2O worth, the shares being one shilling each.
The protection given to passengers by Newmans Alotors Ltd. has again been signified by a visit of Air D. A. Hayden, of the Statu Fire Office, who came to Hokitika to arrange adequate passenger insurance on all of the Newman fleet. Messrs Newman Motors Ltd. have now passengers covered over all cars to the extent of £25,000.
The death took plate at AVestland Hospital early this morning of Mr Martin Donoghue, a former well-known settler of Duffer’s Creek, South AVestland. The deceased was unmarried, a native of County Carlo, Ireland, and 90 years of age. He same to New Zealand some GO years ago and has been a resident of the southern district for most of that period, being one of the early hand of miners to come to the West Coast.
St. Patrick’s Church. Greymomh, was the scene of a pretty wedding on the contracting parties being Air James Fail, son of Mr and Airs Janies Earl, of Blaketuun, ami Aliss Elizabeth Cole, eldest daughter of Air and Airs S. Cole, Bunanga. Nuptial Alass was celebrated by the Bev. Father Hotilahan. The bride wore an ensemble suit of helio kasha and hat to match and was attended hv her sisters, Alisscs Jessie and Hilda Cole, the former wearing a frock of bois de rose maroeain, with hat to match and the latter a frock of liicgc nia.rocain. with a blue felt hat. At file conclusion of the ceremony, the wedding party was entertained at Markers Tea Booms. Air and Airs Karl left later by the express en route to AVelliiigton and Wanganui, where the honeymoon will be spent.
