The holiday attraction to-morrow on Cass Square will he the annual seven aside tournament run hv the Westland Sub-Union. There are a great number of teams entered and a splendid day's Rugby football should result. SATURDAY’S GAAIE. On Saturday afternoon on Cass Square the senior contest between the Excelsior and Kauieri teams will take place. There is a great rivalry between the two teams and each is confident ol being able to win, so that a keen fast game should he seen. Play will commence at 3 p.m. and Air Alclntosh, of Groyniouth, will control tile game, while Mr Williamson will control the senior game at Grey mouth. United v. Stars.

SYDNEY VARSITY AVIN. Australia & N.Z. Cable Assooiition. SYDNEY. Juno 1. The iiiial Test Match between the University representatives of Sydney and New Zealand was played to-day. Ideal conditions ruled for the game. The New Zealand captain. Dunne, won the toss, and Sydney kicked off. and they immediately attacked. A (lushing rush between Gibson and Burge took the bail to Now ' Zealand territory, and. after some hard work Foote scored at the corner, but Boss failed to convert. The spell thus ended—Sydney 14, New Zealand 0. Edwards replaced Foote at half-time. The snell opened with a- desperate assault- on the Sydney line, which was relieved by a free. kick, owing to Holden hanging on when trying to push Ids way over. Lindsay had a good hut unsuccessful attempt at a field goal. From a ruck near the Sydney Hue Holden obtained the ball, and ran round the scrum, when he passed to Linton, who transferred to Loveridge. the latter scoring at the corner. Lindsay's kick was wide. Now Zealand maintained their pressure. hut Lindsay, slipping on a soft patch, let Sydney away, hut the Black defence, and then a line kick by Butler. saved the situation.
