KOKATAHI-KOITERANGI WINTER SHOW
ANOTHER SPLENDID EFFORT. A WONDERFUL DISPLAY. The Kokatahi-Koiterangi NN'intor Show Committee wore favoured yesterday with perfect weather lor the opening of the annual show. From every point of view the display is a
very fine one. in point of number of entries a Ins record is made, totalling over 1300. and the finality of the exhibits is in keeping with the increased quantity. The whole display was a very fine one and all c onconied, Committee and exhibitors alike, deserve
th very fine Micees; achieved, it is woiideri’ti! what, some individual lamilies have entered, and it can he readily understood that an enormous amount of labour has been entailed. Entering the main door of the fine hall, a striking exhibit of buttled fruits and jams at once attracts. On each side aim the District bays. Koitcrangi on one side and Kokntnhi on the other. Doth are remarkably line efforts and residents of Koitorangi were highly pleased at the judges decision being in their favour. Along tin' whole two sides of the building the farm products are displayed, o 'cry line array the quantity and quality being equally good. The farmers Rays were the subject of spirited competition between two Koiierangi residnts who had each secured a leg in for Mr A. Dowell’s silver cup. The judges award went to Mr L. Morel, a very line display containing over 3-10 articles from his farm. Mr Jioddington who also made a very line display was iuciuN second prize. In the centre of the floor ran two lung lines of tables and here the housewives capabilities were displayed. Lids was n spirited competiti m. large entries being re:civeil in many of the classes, and the quality was very fine. The display of iced cakes was exceptionally good and was the subject of much commendation. Fruit takes, sponges, scones and ether delicacies were there in great numbers, .splendid competition resulting. On the stage and in a side room the fancy work and children's work was displayed. Hero again the increased entries were very noticeable, and there was a constant stream of interested onlookers. The poultry exhibit at the rear of the building was of lair quality, but the entries hardly showed any increase on
previous shows. The various judges, Messrs A. B. Spiers (poultry,), Dalgleish and Murray (farm produce), A. Glen (home cookery), .Mrs Shannon, Croymoutli. (sponges, etc). A. Rond, (hamand baton and preserves). Mr
and Mrs Steer (Rays). Mrs !'• Perry- (fancy work, etc..) spoke in high terms of the various exhibits. Mr Steer expressed the opinion that the Rays display t mill hardlv ho b"nt-:i in a city, while the carcases • beet, .sheep ami I'igs wewe ei a sn 'eiallv high qualify. Air Murray staled t:;e root crops were very good bur there was a tendency to supply a gross not a quality exhibit. This was the only blemish, hut the whole display was a very fino one and n credit to the district. Miss l.earmont and her pupils had an attractive display oi oil paintings, etc., on exhibition.
