CHINESE FIGHTING. TOIvIO, May 28.

The War Office announces that two thousand soldiers from Manchuria v\ ill sail from Dairen on May 30th. for -

Tsingtau. The situation generally betokens activity in military circles, but the authorities continue to strenuously insist that all the movements are purely protective. The troops are moving to Shantung.

An official statement issued says that the Government remembers the incidents at Nanking and Hankow, when its nationals were endangered and actual indignities were suffered, and it is now anxious lest there be any repetition in Tsinan, where there arc 2COO Japanese residents. Consequently as an emergency measure, the Government is despatching troops to Tsingtno, and thence to Tsinan, liecause it is unable to protect its nationals there with the Navy. The troops will he withdrawn immediately the fear to Japanese residents ceases to exist.
