FAREWELL TO AIiSS E. CHESTER .MAN.

A large attendance assembled in the Arab urn. Road School Loom on Wednesday afternoon to bill Hire well V) Aliss E. Che.stcrman, who for the past two and a. half years has held the position of assistant teacher at the school. Air Finch, in the chair, apologised for the unavoidable absence of the Chairman (Mr Richards) and also Air Alalonev (head teacher) who is at present in Christchurch.

Mr Finch on behalf of the committee and the. parents expressed sincere regret at Miss Chesterman severing her connection with the teaching stall of the school anti s:\id the committee wished to thank her for the very conscientious manner ill which she had worked for the ihildren. He said they were losing undoubtedly the most energetic and painstaking teacher they have had for many years, and Tier place would he very hard to Jill. Mr Finch then called .... Miss Ackers (a pupil) to make the presentation of a traveling rug. and she also read an address of appreciation from the scholars.

Miss Chesterman returned her heartfelt thanks for the splendid present and said it would serve to remind her of the very many pleasant days spent among them. She also expressed her thanks tor the kind words spoken of her and said now the time came she was sorry she was leaving them.

Afternoon tea which was catryed by the ladies was then served. During the afternoon the pupils rendered several items which were well received. ‘•For Shes a Jolly Good Follow” and the National Anthem brought an enjoyable afternoon to a close Miss Chesternm leaves on Saturday morning to take up her now duties at Otira.
