N.Z BUTTER CANS.
AUCKLAND, May 2:1. On liis return from London to-day. Mr \Y. Goodfellow. the Managing Director of the New Zealand Co-opera-tive Dairy Coy., was shown a recent c.'ihle from Vancouver, stating that 1.000.000 cans from lib. to 201 b. capacity. bad been ordered for the New Zealand butter trade. Mr Goodfellow wus asked if these orders wore for the No IV Zealand Co-operative Dairv Coy. “There must be some mistake here,” he said: “We have ordered a quarter of a million cans for the purpose of sending our butter overseas, but not a million. Mr Goodfellow added: "We did propose installing the plant ourselves to make these cans in New Zealand. When we went into it . we found that at the start, it would not pay on account of the relatively small quantity to be made. We have come to a very good arrangement with the Union Company as far as freight is concerned, but 1 will look further into the matter of the million and make a statement later.”
