CRICKET.

N.Z. TOUR. N.Z. V. MIDDLESEX. (Australian Press Association & Sun.) LONDON, May 21. To-day the* New Zealand cricket team began their game against Middlesex. There was a heavy shower prior to the opening ol the match, which is being played at Lords. The shower steadied Blunt (who scored 42) and Alills (who made 40) when they began New Zealand’s innings. There was a sensational collapse on the visitors’ part after lunch, Haig dismissing Page and Dacre with successive halls, both for “ducks.” Lowry, after being missed in the slips, forced the game resolutely, and he stopped the rot. Alerritt again showed that he is a reliable batsman and made 37 not out. Showers frequently interfered with the game.

The King arrived at the Lords ground while the teams were taking shelter from rain, and His Majesty was introduced hy Sir James Parr (N.Z. High Commissioner) to the New Zealanders, ltain fell at intervals during the whole of His Majesty’s stay, and he had 'no. opportunity of seeing much cricket. The N.Z. innings closed for 234 runs.
