“A Slave of Fashion.” which opens at llu- Princess Theatre to-night brings Norma .Shearer to the screen in her second starring vehicle. ’Whoever made the choice tor her did a ivise thing. for there has never been a more appealing nor yet more scintillating role than that of the heroine, Katherine Kinerson. Opening in the conventional family atmosphere of a small village in lowa, the scene quickly shifts to Xew York. With it is the contrast of a rich and fashionable world, a luxurious bachelor's apartment and the glitter and glamour that only the Fifth Avenue of Xew York can know. It’s the story of a small town girl who masquerades as a bachelor’s wife and is on the verge of exposure. How the bachelor ‘•husband” aggravates and then saves her from her embarrassing position makes the story quite an interesting and entertaining one. Lew Cody plays the bachelor hero It seems a pity that he has missed so many years of leading roles, for there is no leading man on the screen more convincing than he. William Haines is east as the juvenile lead. Dick Wayne, and he proves in his scenes that lie is an actor of real ability. Mary Carr needs no other praise than to say she plays the mother. for in such charm terisatioiis she is unequalled. Yivia Ogden is uproariously funny as the spinster aunt. ■ lames Corrigan. Miss Dupont. and Sidney llrary all hate small hut important roles. rathe news, screen snapshots, romantic Xew Zealand (scenic) and a first class comedy completes a grand display to-night.
