SIR PHILIP GIRDS’ STORY TO-NIGHT. I nder the title of “ High Steppers,” there comes to the screen to-night an adaptation of the widely read Philip Gibbs’ novel, “Heirs Apparent.” The story is essentially built around the lives of modern folk, and deals with the reform of a jazz mad, party hunting younger set. “High Steppers,” therefore, is a title that fits the theme to a nicety. Mary Astor, First National star, and Lloyd Hughes, both of whom have long since won renown as screen lovers, portray the leading roles, hut a particularly fine supporting cast is responsible for some fine work. Alec. 15. Francis. Dolores del Rio, Rita Caiewe and Clarissa Selwyn, are hut a few of the celebrities chosen for prominent parts in the picture. The author has very successfully conveyed an idea of war’s aftermath, though dignity characterises the most glittering episodes of high life that play such an important part in the story. “High Steppers ” has been secured by the management of the Princess Theatre for screening to-night, when patrons should find the production one oT the most human subjects yet screened. A topical and comedy will also he shown. On ‘Wednesday T’ola Negri in “ Forbidden Paradise.”
